PHP in Utah: Overcome Addiction On A Partial Hospitalization Basis
Utah Trauma & Addiction Centers offers partial hospitalization (PHP), at its Utah County, UT, or Salt Lake City, UT locations. We focus on treating eating disorders, substance abuse addiction, mental health, preventing relapses, improving body image, gambling and setting goals. Individuals aged 18 or older who need support and individual treatment of underlying issues that may be causing their symptoms are eligible for this program.
Clients requiring PHP level of care may need the structure, support and supervision when it comes to lasting recovery. Clients also receive assistance to address their root causes. Our Day Program clients find this level helpful as they get the support they need during the day, but they have the freedom to recover at home at night and on weekends within their personal support network.

Day Treatment Program In Utah
In the United States, more than 20 million people have been diagnosed with a substance abuse disorder (SUD). According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, only 10.3% have received treatment for their SUDs in the last year.
SUD treatment is more than stopping drug or alcohol use. To achieve long-term recovery, many people with substance dependence addiction need to be able to use certain skills on a regular basis.
It is possible to come to terms and to do some soul-searching about substance abuse to find out how it started. These are some of the elements that individuals can expect to receive when they participate in day treatment programs at Utah Trauma & Addiction Centers.
Partial Hospitalization Program vs. Day Treatment
Treatment for addiction requires a continuum of care. There are many treatment options for addiction because it is a complex condition. Addiction can also be dangerous and requires that a healthcare professional recommend the best treatment option.
There are two types of treatment available for addicts: partial hospitalization programs (PHP), and day treatment programs. These two types of treatment are a compromise between outpatient and inpatient rehab.
Utah Trauma & Addiction Centers’ Day Treatment programs and Partial Hospitalization programs are both excellent options for continuing addiction treatment. Some people aren’t aware of the differences between the two. Although the terms are often interchangeable, there are differences between them.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Inpatient hospitalization is not required for most PHPs. Partial hospitalization is an extra-intensive program that allows clients to stay at home or in a sober environment while they receive treatment.
Participants in PHP do not live or stay at the facility. They can go home after completing their treatment. They can stay in an inpatient setting for as long as several weeks or even months.
Partial hospitalization programs offer a higher level of care than either. General outpatient programs (GOP) or intensive outpatient programs (IOP). In PHP, patients receive comprehensive healthcare services, including continuous monitoring by nurses, doctors, addiction specialists and nurses. These professionals provide medical care and treatment for long-term substance abuse. Participants in PHP can be individuals with behavioral, mental or physical needs that don’t call for inpatient treatment.
Day Treatment
Day treatment programs function in the same way as partial hospitalization programs. These programs are a type outpatient program in which the patient goes home each night after treatment.
Day treatment programs are less time-intensive than partial hospitalization programs. Day treatments are usually held in an office setting or residential setting, rather than in a hospital. Day treatment can make patients feel more at home.
Day treatment programs are generally offered 3 to 5 times per week and last no more than 6-8 hours each day. They can be as long as several weeks or months and they are similar to partial hospitalization programs. Day treatment programs are also managed by addiction specialists and qualified medical professionals, such as those at Utah Trauma & Addiction Centers.
The Benefits of Day Treatment in Utah
Our Day treatment program offers many benefits.
Substance Abuse and Mental Health
Our Day treatment program for addiction can also be used to treat co-occurring mental disorders. Sometimes, drug and mental disorders can co-exist. Sometimes addiction can be preceded by other mental disorders, such as:
Depression
Anxiety
PTSD
TBI
Gambling
Schizophrenia
Other situations can cause or worsen mental health issues, particularly for those with vulnerabilities. Our day treatment program includes enough clinical hours to get into the basics and build the skills necessary to support long-term sobriety.
Affordable and High-quality Care
Our day treatment program provides the highest quality outpatient care. Our program offers more structured support and provides patients with more clinical contact time. They do this without the disruption and high price tag of our residential treatment program.
Individual Treatment Plan
The healthcare professional will create an Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP), based on the specific evaluations. This is the foundation for the day treatment program in Utah. The ITP can be adjusted based on individual progress. It is important to tailor treatment to each individual’s needs.
Participation by the Family
Family participation is encouraged in our day treatment program. Individuals are able to continue to interact with their families and put the skills they have learned into practice. Family weekends are a common feature of residential programs. Families are limited in the opportunities to put into practice what they have learned once their loved one is home.

Decision-making
Judgment

These changes help to explain an addict’s compulsive behavior.
Utah Trauma & Addiction Centers clients go through different levels of treatment to ensure long-term recovery. After completing an initial assessment, one of our intake professionals will decide the level of care.
